On 1st November 1995 His Worship the Mayor, Sir Barry Curtis opened the new extension to the house called the Tutakina Room ( meaning 'meeting room' ).
Room is suitable for: Large group meetings, family gatherings, church services, birthday parties, dance/exersize /educational classes, playgroups, workshops and special occasions.

The farm name had been changed to the Phoenix Farm because of the phoenix palm trees lining the driveway from the Boundary Road entrance – now the Manukau Velodrome. The name was chosen in reflection of the phoenix palm trees.

In December 1957 the house and farmland was sold to Harry Montague and Ida Israel. They named this room after Margo Klippel-Israel in recognition of her work at the University of Auckland.
